With
a family antiques business background, David Wade
was introduced at an early age into the art world. After
a short spell at Sandhurst, from where he was medically
discharged, David began working for Rafael Valls
Ltd, the leading St. James’s
Old Master Paintings dealer.
He worked there for over 5
years, during which time the gallery exhibited at many
of the worlds major
shows including yearly attendance at The Fine Art Fair
Maastricht, The New York Armoury Show and The Grosvenor
House Fair. The expertise gained allowed David to negotiate
deals within the firm across most fields and at the
highest levels. These included, most notably, the
Gulston Twins portrait by Francis Cotes to the John Paul
Getty
Museum, a superb Vanitas still life by Franciscus Gysbrechts
to the Stanford University Collection and,
to the Harris Museum in his native Lancashire County,
a unique and highly important triple portrait of the
Ducane family by Arthur Devis considered to be the
artist's masterpiece.
The company is now in its seventh year of trading and during this period, a great deal has been accomplished. This includes reuniting important ancestral paintings back to their original owners and building and continually developing major private collections mostly based in the North of England.
The company has sold important works to some of the worlds greatest institutions.
